The Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Agrotechnology of Zhangir Khan University hosted problem lectures on the disciplines of «Plant Protection» and «Soil Science».

The lectures were held for students of the 2nd and 4th courses of the OP “6b08100 – Agronomy” under the guidance of PhD, acting associate Professor Layla Kalieva and Master’s degree, senior lecturer Mendigul Kuanalieva. The students attended lectures delivered by Arthur Toktamysovich Zhiengaliev, the regional director of  Nazar Agro Trade LLP in the West Kazakhstan region, on the topics «Main Protective Measures Against Harmful Organisms of Agricultural Crops» and «Problems of Dark Chestnut Soil Fertility in the Arid Climate of Western Kazakhstan and Ways to Improve It». They received comprehensive information on the harmfulness and characteristics of the spread of harmful organisms of agricultural crops in the West Kazakhstan region, methods of protecting plants from pests and diseases, as well as the most effective ways to increase soil fertility in the conditions of Western Kazakhstan. In addition, the students got acquainted with the company’s equipment through video materials and saw how it is used in practice. At the end of the problem-oriented lectures, the future specialists openly asked questions they were interested in and showed great interest in their profession.

Students of the University’s Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Agrotechnology took part in the International Student Olympiad «Babylovskaya Olympiad – 2025», which was held in an online format.

The Olympiad was organized by Saratov State University of Genetics, Biotechnology and Engineering named after N. I.Vavilov in honor of the 138th anniversary of the birth of Academician N. I. Vavilov. In the competition, which was attended by 17 teams from around the world, students worked with geographical maps at the first stage, and completed test tasks at the second. The main purpose of the Olympiad is to assess the level of training of students, deepen and systematize the knowledge gained in the process of studying specialized disciplines, and develop interest in Vavilov’s research activities.

Students of the educational program «Crop Production» have demonstrated a high level of training, the ability to defend their decisions in a reasoned manner and apply theoretical knowledge in practice. Following the results of the Olympiad, the students who showed the best results and distinguished themselves with deep knowledge were awarded diplomas and diplomas from the Saratov State University of Genetics, Biotechnology and Engineering named after N.I.Vavilov.

In October-November, a student subject Olympiad was held at the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Agrotechnology of Zhangir Khan University among students of the GOP Plant Breeding, which took place in two stages in test and oral form.

The purpose of the Olympiad is to test students’ knowledge, increase students’ interest in classes, develop a love for their chosen specialty, and identify the best. Students from the educational programs 6B08100 – Agronomy and 6B08102 – Plant Protection and Quarantine participated in the Olympiad. During the competition, students demonstrated their professional skills, subject knowledge, and analytical abilities. Participants who achieved high results were awarded certificates and diplomas from the university.

A meeting with representatives of DSK Priority LLP, organized by the Career and Business Partnership Center, was held at Zhangir khan University.

The event was attended by graduate students of the educational programs “Construction Engineering”, “Production of building materials” and “Chemical Engineering and Processes”, who got acquainted with the activities of the company specializing in road construction. 

The head of the testing laboratory of DSK Priority LLP, Yerbolat Tastenov, spoke in detail about the company’s activities and invited future specialists studying in the construction sector to undergo an internship with subsequent employment. Daniyar Shaukenev, a graduate of WKATU, who currently works as a laboratory engineer at the company, noted that if there is a desire to work, all conditions will be created for young specialists. 

During the meeting, the guests answered the students’ questions and emphasized the importance of such qualities as punctuality and responsibility in professional activities.

Zhangir khan University has signed a trilateral memorandum of cooperation with the Department of Emergency Situations of the West Kazakhstan Region and the Department of Industrial Safety of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of establishing a social partnership.

Nurken Gubashev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the West Kazakhstan State University, Zhanbolat Zhanshin, Acting Head of the Emergency Situations Department of the West Kazakhstan Region, as well as Yerlan Toksanbayev, Head of the Industrial Safety Department, took part in the ceremony.

In the future, the three sides will work together to train qualified specialists, improve their practical skills and serve for the benefit of our country.

The QS Asia university rankings of 2026 included 1529 universities from 25 Asian countries (China, India, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, Central Asia, etc.).

Zhangir khan university participated in the 2026 QS Asia University Rankings and took a respectable 658th place among the best universities in Asia. It also ranked 40th in the QS Asia University Rankings 2026: Central Asia (https://www.topuniversities.com/asia-university-rankings).

The key indicators used to compile the rating include academic reputation and the reputation of employers, the ratio of the number of teachers and students, the number of publications per teacher. Also, the rating compilers take into account the number of citations of the university, the share of foreign teachers and foreign students, the share of teachers with an academic degree, international scientific relations.

The traditional futsal tournament “The Golden Ball – 2025” was held at our university among teachers and students of the Industrial and Technological Institute.

The main purpose of the event was to promote a healthy lifestyle among young people, increase students’ interest in sports, and strengthen team spirit and friendly relations.

According to the results of the tournament, the 2nd-year students’ team won first place. The 1st-year students’ team took second place, while the ITI faculty team came in third.

The competition was organized at a high level, and the participants demonstrated an intense and exciting game. The sports event was held through the joint efforts of the institute’s teachers and the Sunkar Sports Club.
